MUDRAS: YOGA OF THE HANDS

Mudras are a system of positions achieved with the hands, widely used in Yoga to restore the proper flow of vital energy (prana) throughout the body.

This is possible due to the high concentration of nerve endings found in the hands, which by uniting and positioning the fingers in a certain way, create energy circuits that enable the stimulation of the unbalanced element to promote its recovery.

The mudras are practiced with a light pressure of the fingers until you feel a flow of energy through the body, while the hands are relaxed.

It is valuable to understand the value and function that each finger has for the realization of the mudras, each representing one of the elements.

Meanings of the fingers in the Mudras

Thumb: Fire Element, assigning functions on the lung, logic and willpower.

Index: Symbolizes the Air and influences the stomach, thought and mind.

Middle Finger: Element Ether, and functions are assigned to blood circulation and gallbladder.

Ring: Representing the Earth element, it influences the liver, vitality and general good health.

Little finger: Water element, directly linked to the heart, sexuality, communication and relationships with other people.
